Year 9 & 10 Coordinator’s Message

The word unprecedented has been used more this year than any time in my memory.

Everyone has had to face challenges and tests that we have never before had to endure. This current lockdown in some ways has been more difficult than the first as the frustration of already going through this process just to go through it again is quite high. However, what has been pleasing is the way that as a school we have been able to show resilience in these difficult times.

Some parents and students that I have spoken to have even said that this time was easier as they knew what to expect. If not all then most have expressed a real desire for school to get back to normal. The previous lockdown I was required to go to school every day and the school was simply not the same without the students. This lockdown, due to the stricter rules, I was required to work from home. I too would like the school to reopen as soon as possible but only if it is safe to do so.

Previously before this lockdown we had safety procedures that will surely continue once we all go back. Students temperature was measured before they entered the school premises, masks were compulsory and there was hand sanitisers available to students as well as policies that were aimed to promote social distancing where possible.

Lastly, I would like to thank the Principle Mr. Cicek, all the teachers, parents and students that have done such a wonderful job in ensuring that this year was a year that education and learning was still achieved even though the challenges were significant.
